Is Life Worth It

We Are All The Same

No matter who you are or where you are from, we are just like you.  We are all the same.  To think that you are somehow different, separates you from us.  Separation is lonely and cold, so come back to us, through the realization we are all alike and in this together.

Self-Sacrifice vs Self-Care

“Self-sacrifice which denies common sense is not a virtue. It’s a spiritual dissipation.”

Margaret Deland

We find yet another duality in the comparison of self-sacrifice and self-care.  In some cultures it is considered good to sacrifice your needs to put other first.  While in other cultures it is taught that one should care for themselves first before taking care of others.  This creates an interesting need for discernment and balance.  The question is how do we determine when is it best to put ourselves or other first?    Continue reading

Guilt, Shame and Religion

“The essence of all religion is one.  Only their approach is different.”

Gandhi

Religion is a very sensitive topic and can potentially stir uncomfortable feelings in many individuals. Know that this post is written with the utmost care and sensitivity.  I am not here to judge, nor do I claim to have all the answers.  I would simply like to pose a few questions.  This conversation will require you, the reader, to keep an open mind, evaluate the questions honestly and then choose what is right for you.    Continue reading

Acceptance, Resistance and Motivation Require Balance

Then on the other side, they say we should accept where we are and be satisfied with it, in order to find happiness. How do you do both? Drive and momentum seem to oppose contentment and passivity.  Continue reading

Focusing on your strengths – Part 2

Our lives are defined not by the challenges we encounter, but by how we respond to those challenges. Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Realizing that strength finding is a challenging task, I will expound on it again today. Often times it is best to explain through example.  While I do enjoy my anonymity, the best example I have is my own. I don’t necessarily like to talk about myself and I don’t claim to be an expert or to have all the answers, but I certainly have learned a lot of lessons the hard way.  My goal is to prevent you from having to do the same, and so, I am your humble servant.

Am I On the Right Path

So you are still here…I will take that to mean you are committed to the process of achieving happiness and fulfillment and serious about making a change. Congratulations!  “Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!” Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go! Let’s get started! Continue reading

Change Is Not Easy

“Human beings are not born once and for all on the day their mothers give birth to them, but…life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves.” Gabriel Garcia Marquez Continue reading
